You betcha I remember November 1973. Fortunately, I traded my '71 Mustang Mach I 350 ci V8 in a year previously for a VW Beetle. It was a miserable winter in Bergen County NJ. Odd/Even plate days, $5 limits, and 1/2-mile lines. Then suddenly one day in February 1974 "POOF", the No-Gas misery vanished overnight. The cost of a gallon more than doubled in 5 months, but like when you're constantly smacked in the head with a hammer when it stops you cheer.

I had a '66 3-cylinder/2-stroke SAAB 96 I got in 1968. Got 40 MPG. It wasn't fancy or glamorous, but ran forever on a fill-up. Finally had to give it up when I got assigned to Minot, ND and there was no way I could get it serviced.
