Paint on aircraft does not last long. One I flew had been repainted 6 times. You see this more on corporate aircraft. The rich folk don't like something looking too shabby. The airlines, they don't care it cost money so if it looks a little long on tooth so be it. They only get painted during a major overhaul of the aricraft.

It's a closeup on a crash site. There's debris scattered all over the place from the explosion. So, yeah, same copter

See the original paint scheme when the Illinois government owned it in the address above. Is it possible that the copter just had a vinly wrap?

HC, I have never seen vinyl on a rotor craft. Those are usually applied to larger lease aircraft. It is cheaper to apply your name and logo that way as opposed to painting a aircraft with your brand and then stripping and repainting back to original paint on lease return.
