The Black Screen of Death

So I am sipping on a vodka and club watching TV when all of a sudden the screen on my Samsung TV goes black. The audio is still working but there is no picture, none. I try unplugging the cable box and TV, reconnecting it again and again with no success. The TV is just over 3 years old and hardly old. After reading online forums regarding Samsung TVs I realize that it is a common problem. So what can a man do? I am stuck with a 42" pile of junk. Planned obsolescence by the manufacturer with these TVs and just about any other electronic device or appliance made today. So it is off to Best Buy to get another TV tomorrow. Screw all these expensive TVs I am going to buy a cheap Visio or Insignia brand fuck'em.

The last time I went to Best Buy I had a black kid salesman who started telling me how money was the root of all evil and started with the Jehovah Witness bullshit. I said Evil? You work for Best Buy kid. If money is the root of all evil then give me that router for free. These Jehovahs are the biggest bunch of brainwashed people I have ever seen. I used to have them knock on my door in Jersey almost every weekend. One day I saw them coming up the street and grabbed a large kitchen knife. I smeared ketchup on it, wiped my shirt with it and waited for the eventual door bell to ring. Two well dressed ladies were at my door holding their usual religious toilet paper. They saw the ketchup and the kitchen knife and said "it appears we have caught you at a bad time". I said that I just finished sacrificing a goat to Satan but I always have time for the Lord. Both of them said no, no, we will come back another day. Guess what? No more visits by the God Squad. I never laughed so hard in my life. The Jehovah Witnesses are a money generating cult, nothing more.

So Back to the TV. If anyone has any recommendations on a brand that will last more than 3 years please leave a comment. I question whether to buy another TV at all due to the shit programming and shows these days. Remember when TV was free? Dumb asses like us were conned into paying for it. Shame on us. Nothing but death, torture porn, and idiocracy from the cesspool of Hollywood. Stay well all. Off to make athother cocktail.

I have 2 Visio and 2 Insignia flat screens. All 42". All 4 years old without a hitch in any of em. Bought at best buy during winter festivus on screaming deal sales. Think all of em together cost what they wanted for just 1 top of the line wiz bang brand name tv.

I have a Samsung. Bought it when I moved in six years ago, or a year later. But I'll tell you what... never again. Samsung's, "smart" ones, listen and report, and aren't any better. As to failure, I think some is bad luck, some is built in, by the individual makers and component manufacturers. Just enough to keep some rotation. Biz is biz.

May fortune smile on you. Fortuna only smiles upon you if you already can't lose, until it's time to gut you. *rictus grins*

Got me a 28 inch LG (that's all I need for watching a total of 1 hour a day) at Wal*Marts almost 5 years ago and it just hums along. If I remember correctly it cost about $130.

Home made digital antenna costs $3 (balun for $1.83 plus miscellaneous wood screws for coat hanger wire attachment to repurposed bunk bed wood slat).
Made it from an internet DIY site in 2011. Have saved at least $1500 per year every year since. Granted, I live in a large metropolitan area and am able to access well over 100 local stations.
Still not much on worth watching but I do get some great Nigerian soap operas and a few awesome Telenovelas along with Vietnamese infomercials. All in all a win for me.
Have a Samsung 42 inch smart tv that is just okay. Paid $300 in 2012.

Our Sony flat screen is still working at around the six or eight year point, and when our Samsung had problems at around two years we replaced it with an LG.
Samsung didn't stand behind their product.

I'd rather have back my old Magnavox with rabbit ears!

Buy a Sony....no baloney. Have had the same Sony flat screen now for 8 years, still running strong, in spite of a recall warning I never addressed. Now if there was only something worth watching............. Agreed, had an old Magnavox. Bought it as a sales floor demo model. That sucker lasted 20 plus years and was still operational when I replaced it with a large flat screen......they were bomb proof.

I've had a 55" Vizio(bought at WalMart)for over 10 years,it still works like it's brand new. Have never had any problems with it at all. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if this one ever stops working.

Go on line and fine a "pc board replacement kit" for your tv. It'll cost a tenth of what a new tv cost.
